Please note that I do not necessarily agree with every word in each of these documents. But I felt each piece offered something of value for the pipe or cigar enthusiast. As you read, whether you agree or disagree, you will find ample opportunity for learning, contemplation, and reflection, all of which are well-suited companions to the peaceful art of pipe-smoking.

- Refurbishing Estate Pipes--An Overview by David Peterson - This overview will acquaint you with the major processes and methods involved in restoring estate pipes to "like new" condition.
- Tongue Bite--The Bane of Pipe Smoking by David Peterson - This essay provides a fairly detailed discussion of the major causes of tongue bite. It also provides some suggestions and tips for overcoming this particular nuisance.
- The Professor's Pipe Sweetening Method (also known as the Salt and Alcohol Treatment) - Excellent article offering a tried-and-true method for removing "ghost" smells and flavors from a pipe that has grown sour.
- Tobacco Pipes by Ben Rapaport (an excerpt from Tobacco in History and Culture: An Encyclopedia, 2 Volume Set) - A short but excellent history of the tobacco smoking pipe.
SMOKER'S RIGHTS
- In Defense of Smokers by Lauren A. Colby [Off-site link] - A fourteen chapter book dealing with different aspects of smoker's rights. While it predominantly focuses on cigarette smoking, the principles and facts discussed are certainly relevant to pipe smokers.
- Please Don't Poop In My Salad by Joseph L. Bast [Off-site link] - In the series of essays that compose this small book, Joseph Bast uses common sense, real science, and the (almost) lost art of critical thinking to refute and debunk the outlandish claims and comments made by anti-smoking fundamentalists and those who have found great profits in fueling the hysteria.
